About

The blog

This blog attempts to counter the lies, deceit, and misinformation coming out of The Discovery Institute.  I take posts from the Evolution News and Views blog and systematically, but briefly, refute their arguments. I also try to include random thoughts on the subject. As with anything you ever read, you shouldn’t take my posts as the complete and total window to reality.

Me

My real name is Jason Rall and I am a postdoctoral fellow working in the area of gene regulation.  I received my PhD in 2007 in Microbiology. I do not have any specific training in evolutionary biology, except at the undergrad level. I started this blog because I feel increasingly under attack by anti-science groups like the Discovery Institute. Even thought my work does not specifically deal with evolution, I find that I use the ideas and tools brought by the Theory nearly every day.

  1. Just wanted to thank you for your inclusion of my blog in your Blog roll. Very nice set up here with well thought out, intelligent posts. Nice work.

  2. I have to admit, you seem to be doing good work on this blog. Though the DI is a rather easy target, with the ignorance and mistruths they shovel out being easily noticeable.

  3. Matt,
I agree with you that the DI is an easy target. I really do like going after the low hanging fruit. However, I still think it is important to refute these guys every step of the way so that pseudoscience never really gains any traction.

  4. Bravo! If you let that nonsense go unchallenged, people are in danger of believing it.

  5. If Charles Darwin is God and Richard Dawkins his Prophet, why for God’s sake you darwinists still believe Science and Religion are one the opposite of other? Since the Science has turned into a collection of dogmas and taboos thanks to Materialism, scientists have become a very fanatical religious group. Good times those when Francis Bacon and Sir Isaac Newton have studied and have written theological works side by side with philosophical and scientific works without such fanatical view of sciences Charles Darwin has brought us and unfortunately lasts till now.

    • Evelin,
First, no one is acting as if Darwin was a god. Most people don’t know the first thing about him except in regards to the Theory of Evolution, let alone worship him.

Religion is on the opposite end as science. Religion requires belief, while science requires evidence.

I am sorry you have such a misunderstanding of science. Maybe you could have a real conversation with a few. If you do, I think you will see how eager scientists are to overturn each other’s results.
